BR 50' Passenger Brake M31040M - Era 5
Hornby’s TT:120 scale rolling stock range continues to develop with the addition of newly tooled LMS Period III carriages. A ubiquitous carriage type for all regions of British Railways, the 50’ full brake is a must for new and seasoned modellers alike.
Modernising the carriage fleet of the LMS in the 1930s was a similar priority to CME Sir William Stanier as his acclaimed steam locomotive designs, with new, streamlined diagrams of carriages combining wooden framing with steel cladding. The 57 foot ‘Period III’ corridor coaches became the mainstay of LMS passenger trains through to the BR era and could be seen on all types of passenger services far beyond the Midland region.
The 50’ long Period III Passenger Full Brake is included in the all-new Hornby TT:120 57’ range, featuring M31040M in the plain yet smart unlined maroon BR livery for the 1950s and 1960s (era 5). Featuring a highly detailed bodyshell and chassis, the fine tampo printing also includes accurate straw BR numbering and lettering.
The perfect companion to Hornby’s TT:120 Duchess Pacifics, the passenger brake could also be found attached to passenger, parcels and freight trains from all other regions of British Railways in the 1960s. A ubiquitous variant, the new LMS 50’ Passenger Brake can easily find a home with any late BR era TT:120 model railway.
