New to the Key Model World Shop collection from PJM Models is a laser-cut ‘OO’ gauge kit of Yarnton signalbox.

The plywood and MDF kit contains a full set of parts to build the structure of the 1909-built Great Western Railway Type 27C signalbox. The structure had a 25ft x 12ft timber cabin supported on a brick base with the cabin significantly wider to allow good vision for the signalman while also meeting the restricted space for the 'box.

When built it had an early McKenzie and Holland electric frame with miniature levers, which are recorded as being powered by batteries. This was later replaced in 1929 by a traditional 51 lever mechanical frame which remained in use until the signalbox was closed in 1971.

The structure stood guard at Yarnton to manage trains on the Oxford-Worcester line as well as those diverging onto the Fairford Branch

The laser-cut kit models the exterior of the building using a combination of timber parts as well as featuring a full set of laser-cut glazing panels and 3D printed details for the roof.

Highlights of the model include fine laser-cut parts for accurate fit, separate step treads, removable roof and floor panels for future access and multi-layer construction of the main building.

The base of the building measures 101mm x 33mm. The total footprint including the steps is 164mm x 33mm.

The new kit is in stock now exclusively at the Key Model World Shop. Requires glue, tools and paint for assembly.
