The Gresley ‘A4’ 4-6-2s were introduced in 1935 with striking art-deco streamlining and the locomotives became synonymous as the premier motive power of the London North Eastern Railway. This complete train set for TT:120 scale from Hornby portrays an A4-hauled express of the East Coast Mainline in the late 1950s and early 1960s, with ‘A4’ 60004 William Whitelaw in popular British Railways late crest green livery. The ‘A4’ is accompanied by three Mk1 carriages in BR lined maroon, with two Composite Corridors (CK) and one Brake Second Corridor (BSK).

The locomotive is highly detailed, capturing the distinctive streamlining, double chimney and no valances. The accurate corridor tender includes a pre-fitted 15mm x 11mm cube speaker and Hornby’s innovative Triplex Sound (TXS) Next18 DCC decoder pre fitted for added realism, featuring wireless Bluetooth control. The set contains an oval of track with third radius curves measuring 137cm x 91cm which can be expanded with additional track packs from the Hornby TT:120 range. It also has a point and siding, analogue controller, transformer and rerailer.
