Key Publishing is proud to announce a limited edition ‘OO’ gauge Accurascale Class 60, portraying DB Schenker’s 60040 The Territorial Army Centenary in its distinctive Cherry Red livery.

SOLD OUT ON PRE-ORDER - DUE LATE 2026

Built in 1992 at Brush, Loughborough, 60040 entered service with the Construction sector and was originally named Brecon Beacons. Following the onset of rail privatisation, its Construction sector branding was replaced by Mainline logos. It then joined the EWS fleet in 1997, adopting the operator’s corporate maroon and gold colour scheme.

In 2008, 60040 was repainted into a one-off Cherry Red livery and renamed The Territorial Army Centenary at the National Railway Museum. This striking livery remained until 2012, when the locomotive was repainted into DB Schenker’s red and grey colours — its final livery before withdrawal in 2024.

During its time in red, 60040 led coal, aggregates and oil trains, and also hauled steel and engineering workings — making it a familiar sight across the network.

Key Publishing’s exclusive model of 60040 uses Accurascale’s new tooling for the fleet of 100 locomotives that were built at Brush between 1989 and 1993. It is the first of the second batch to be revealed and features correct details for 60040, including roof details and the correct fuel tank arrangements.

Features of the model include accurate reproduction of the colour scheme over a body which features etched metal grilles on the body and roof, interior detail in the cabs and engine room, fully detailed bogies and underframe equipment, plus a full suite of external and internal lights.

The mechanism features a five-pole motor at the centre with twin flywheels, and there is also all-wheel drive within the 825-gram chassis, which makes the Accurascale Class 60 a powerful model on the track. There is a 21-pin decoder socket in all models, with the DCC-ready versions also having a pre-fitted 15mm x 11mm cube speaker as well as stay-alive capacitors. DCC sound-fitted versions benefit from the addition of an ESU LokSound V5 decoder with Accurascale’s own Class 60 sound profile, together with a large bass speaker to join the small cube speaker.

The new Class 60 limited edition is due to be released in late 2026. Register your interest here in case stock becomes available once pre-orders have been fulfilled on release.
