Hornby’s TT:120 scale rolling stock range continues to develop with the addition of newly tooled LMS Period III carriages. Featuring the sought-after British Railways carmine and cream livery, this range of 57’ carriages is a must for any modeller of the 1950s. Available to order now from the Key Model World Shop.

Modernising the carriage fleet of the LMS in the 1930s was a similar priority to CME Sir William Stanier as his acclaimed steam locomotive designs, with new, streamlined diagrams of carriages combining wooden framing with steel cladding. The 57 foot ‘Period III’ corridor coaches became the mainstay of LMS passenger trains through to the BR era and could be seen on all types of passenger services far beyond the Midland region.

The Period III Corridor Third is included in the all-new Hornby TT:120 57’ range, featuring M1842M in the popular BR carmine and cream livery used throughout the 1950s (era 4). Featuring a highly detailed bodyshell, chassis and fine tampo printing, two identities are offered to easily assemble a realistic train.

The perfect companion to Hornby’s TT:120 LMS Duchess Pacifics and often mixed with Mk1 carriages, these Period III carriages are also accurate running on other regions of BR. With a large range of appropriate stock available for the ‘early emblem’ period of BR, the new LMS 57’ Third Corridor can easily find a home with any 1950s BR era TT:120 model railway.
